Emergency Services

When emergencies hit, you don't have time to think. You only have time to act. Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department is always there, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week to care for your family's medical emergencies.

ALMH offers advanced technology, life-saving medicines and a caring and compassionate team of doctors, nurses and technicians. All physicians are board-certified in one or more specialties. All clinical staff members are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and most are certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Each room is equipped with a television as well as a nurse call system to improve our patients' communication with staff. The nurses' station is positioned at a strategic vantage point to our patient rooms and has a central cardiac monitoring system.

Two patient rooms are specially outfitted as trauma rooms and are located near the emergency entrance. With state-of-the-art surgical lighting and clinical booms containing oxygen, suction and monitoring equipment, these rooms give staff the ability to provide improved care to our cardiac and trauma patients.

The emergency department also has an isolation room and a private triage area across from the registration desk.

The helipad for helicopter landings is right outside the department. The helipad and the sidewalk leading up to it are heated so it will be clear of ice and snow in the winter.

ALMH partners with the Logan County Paramedic Association to provide professional emergency patient transport from the field to ALMH, and from ALMH to larger tertiary hospitals. Ground transport from ALMH to Memorial Medical Center is typically achieved in under 30 minutes. Flight transportation service is also available from ALMH.

We have streamlined our emergency care processes to deliver care that's twice as fast as the national average. We provide fast, quality health care with average door-to-door time of less than 2-1/2 hours - compared to a national average of approximately eight hours.

Here's how it works. All patients are triaged upon arrival. Critically ill and injured patients are always treated first. That means, that a patient presenting will a less serious illness or injury may have to wait to be seen by a nurse or doctor. Patients are never refused care based solely on their ability to pay.

At registration you will be asked to provide a photo ID and insurance information. Please be prepared to provide your stated co-pay for emergency room services at this time. In true emergency situations, patients are usually seen first by the doctor before they are asked for a co-pay.
