ALMH Run/Walk

The ALMH Run/Walk is an event held annually in the fall at Edward Madigan State Park in Lincoln. Its purpose is to demonstrate that being healthy can be fun.

Event Highlights - September 21, 2019

  • 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
  • 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles)
  • 1 mile free chip timed run for youth ages 6-13 (must be able to finish in under 18:00 minutes)
  • KIDS DASH (200 yards) for ages 10 and under, all participants receive a prize.

Early registration deadline is September 4th.
Please note: if you register after September 4th, your race t-shirt will only be available by pick up at the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital volunteer desk after October 17th.

Event Day Schedule

7 a.m. – On-site registration and participant check-in, registration will be available on site (cash, check and credit cards accepted) 
7:30 a.m. – 200-yard Kid DASH 
1 mile run immediately following KIDS DASH
8 a.m. – 5K and 10K race start
9 a.m. – 5K awards
9:30 a.m. – 10K awards

5K Fees (includes snacks after the race and a dri-fit race shirt)

  • Participants ages 14 and up: $25.
  • Participants ages 13 and under: $15.

10K Fees (includes snacks after the race and a dri-fit race shirt) 

  • Participants ages 14 and up: $30.
  • Participants ages 13 and under: $15.


Registrants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line, within event time requirement of 1 hour, 35 minutes (15:00 per mile pace) for the 10K distance and 60 minutes (19:00 per mile pace) for the 5K distance.

To register, 10K participants must be 8 years of age or older on event day. Participants under 18 years of age must have a statement signed by a parent or legal guardian permitting participation. 

Participant Conduct and Safety

  • Participants must follow instructions as given from all event officials including race staff, volunteers and medical personnel throughout the duration of the event.
  • All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner towards the community and their fellow participants during their participation in the event. 
  • Every participant shall be provided with an event bib number, which shall be conspicuously worn on the front (and back when applicable) of the participant's outermost layer of clothing during the event. The event bib number is to be worn as issued. No participant shall be permitted to participate in the event without the appropriate bib number. 
  • Participants must begin the event during the official starting times.
  • Medical personnel authorized by the event to do so may examine any participant who appears in distress and may remove a participant from the event if they feel that it is in the best interest of the participant's health and welfare. 
  • Event officials reserve the right to delay, cancel or suspend the race due to inclement weather.

Prizes and Divisions

In both the 5K and 10K races, prizes will be awarded to the following categories/divisions:

Overall male and female - 1st and 2nd place finishers 

  • 1st place finishers will win a $50 gift certificate to the Springfield Running Center
  • 2nd place finishers will win a $25 gift certificate to the Springfield Running Center

1 mile timed run - 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners

  • PRIZE:  water bottle

First place for the following male/female age categories

  • Under 13; 14-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+
  • PRIZE: water bottle

Stroller Division

  • First place finisher will win a water bottle
