ALMH Run/Walk

The ALMH Run/Walk is an event held annually in the fall at Edward Madigan State Park in Lincoln. Its purpose is to demonstrate that being healthy can be fun.

Event Highlights - October 7, 2017

  • 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
  • 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles)
  • KIDS DASH (200 yards)

The walk/run is mapped on a USATF certified course and is chip-timed. All registered participants will receive a dri-fit race shirt. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers in several divisions.

The "KIDS DASH" is for children ages 10 and under, and all participants receive a prize.

Event Day Schedule

7:30 a.m. – On-site registration and participant check-in, registration will be available on site (cash, check and credit cards accepted) 
8:30 a.m. – 200-yard Kid DASH 
8:45 a.m. – Registration closes
9 a.m. – 5K and 10K race start 
10 a.m. – 5K awards
10:30 a.m. – 10K awards

5K Fees (includes snacks after the race and a long-sleeve race shirt)

  • Participants ages 14 and up: $25.
  • Participants ages 13 and under: $10.
  • After September 14:  Fees increase $5 per participant and race shirts will be mailed after race day.

10K Fees (includes snacks after the race and a long-sleeve race shirt) 

  • Participants ages 14 and up: $30.
  • Participants ages 13 and under: $10.
  • After September 14: Fees increase $5 per participant and race shirts will be mailed after race day.


Registrants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line, within event time requirement of 1 hour, 35 minutes (15:00 per mile pace) for the 10K distance and 60 minutes (19:00 per mile pace) for the 5K distance.

To register, 10K particpants must be 8 years of age or older on event day. Participants under 18 years of age must have a statement signed by a parent or legal guardian permitting participation. 

Participant Conduct and Safety

  • Participants must follow instructions as given from all event officials including race staff, volunteers and medical personnel throughout the duration of the event.
  • All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner towards the community and their fellow participants during their participation in the event. 
  • Every participant shall be provided with an event bib number, which shall be conspicuously worn on the front (and back when applicable) of the participant's outermost layer of clothing during the event. The event bib number is to be worn as issued. No participant shall be permitted to participate in the event without the appropriate bib number. 
  • Participants must begin the event during the official starting times.
  • Medical personnel authorized by the event to do so may examine any participant who appears in distress and may remove a participant from the event if they feel that it is in the best interest of the participant's health and welfare. 
  • Event officials reserve the right to delay, cancel or suspend the race due to inclement weather.

Prizes and Divisions

In both the 5K and 10K races, prizes will be awarded to the following categories/divisions:

  • Overall male and female - 1st and 2nd place finishers 

    PRIZES: To be announced.
  • First place stroller PRIZE: Run/Walk warm weather beanie 
  • First place finishers for each of the following male/female age categories: under 13; 14-18; 19-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+

    PRIZE: Run/Walk warm weather beanie
