"One Step at a Time” Event Talks Diabetes and Fitness
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital is providing a free education event for people with diabetes mellitus and their family and friends. Participants can attend meetings the third Friday of each month in the Wombacher Room at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
The conversation on April 19 at 11am will be centered on incorporating more activity into daily life. Beginning a safe exercise program can improve blood sugar and fitness levels. The casual meetings are free and do not require registration. Jennifer DiPasquale, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator, leads the conversation and share information.
“The diabetes support group is a great opportunity to get practical and timely information about how to manage your diabetes,” DiPasquale said. Family members, friends, and caregivers are also welcome to attend the meetings.
An estimated 8.6 percent of adults in Logan County have been diagnosed with diabetes according to the Illinois Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Interested individuals should call DiPasquale at (217) 605-5536 or e-mail her at ALMHdiabetes@mhsil.com for more information. ALMH is a 25-bed critical access hospital located at 200 Stahlhut Drive in Lincoln. For more information, visit ALMH.org.
