In 2019, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital achieved Pathway to Excellence designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. ALMH is one of 169 designated hospitals in five countries and only the second in Illinois to receive the honor. The Pathway to Excellence designation identifies the elements of interprofessional work environments where nurses can flourish and feel empowered. The designation substantiates nursing job satisfaction at ALMH and identifies it as one of the best places to work.
As a Pathway to Excellence designated organization, ALMH is committed to creating an environment where nurses excel and feel valued as integral members of interprofessional health care teams. This designation confirms to the public that nurses working at ALMH know their efforts are supported. The honor encourages other nurses to join their colleagues in this desirable and nurturing environment.

In 2018, Becker's Hospital Review recognized Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in the "66 Critical Access Hospitals to Know" list. ALMH was also listed in their 2015, 2016 and 2017 recognition lists. The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team provides recognition to critical access hospitals based on awards and rankings from respected organizations including iVantage Health Analytics, The Chartis Group, the National Rural Health Association, CareChex, Healthgrades and Medicare star ratings. The team also considered the hospital's community impact and reputation for innovation.
In 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital was named among the nation's most wired hospitals by the Hospital and Health Networks, an industry-standard benchmark study that measures the level of information technology used in U.S. hospitals and health systems.
In 2019, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital was recognized for the fifth time since 2014 by iVantage Health Analytics as one of the nation's top 100 best-performing critical access hospitals. The honor is based on iVantage's Hospital Strength Index and its measures of market conditions, clinical and operational performance and financial and qualitative outcomes.
In 2017 and 2018, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital has been recognized by the Chartis Center for Rural Health/iVantage Health Analytics and the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NSOSRH) for overall excellence, reflecting top quartile performance among all rural hospitals in the nation. The rankings are determined each year using iVantage Health Analytics Hospital Strength INDEX®, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. In partnership with NOSORH, iVantage Health Analytics has developed a data-driven program designed to identify excellence across a broad spectrum of indicators relevant to hospital performance and patient care. The Hospital Strength INDEX captures performance metrics for all rural and Critical Access Hospitals.
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital has been recognized as a 2011 and 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures®by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. ALMH was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for pneumonia, surgical care, venous thromboembolism, and immunization. ALMH is one of only 1,043 hospitals out of more than 3,300 eligible hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2014 Top Performer distinction.
In recognition for leading the health care industry in sustainability and environmental stewardship, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital received the prominent Greenhealth Emerald Award from Practice Greenhealth in both 2018 and 2019, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to environmental sustainability in health care. The award is one of the Environmental Excellence Awards given each year to honor environmental achievements in the health care sector.
The Greenhealth Emerald Award recognizes health care facilities that are setting the standard in eliminating mercury, reducing and recycling waste, sustainable sourcing, and other areas. Winning hospitals have demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability and shown leadership in the local community and in the health care sector. Additionally, in 2019 was recognized with the Circles of Excellence Award – Food. This award only honors up to 10 of the highest performing hospitals nationwide. In 2017, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital was recognized as an Environmental Partner by Practice Greenhealth.
