ALMH has three surgical suites, a C-section room and an endoscopy room that are state-of-the-art with up-to-date technology. Our dedicated team of professionals provides individualized patient care. Our staff includes experts in surgical specialties who are highly trained through an intense orientation program, in-service training, and continuing education programs. Anesthesia is used so that surgery and other medical procedures can be performed without unnecessary pain. The goal of the ALMH Anesthesia Department is to provide safe anesthesia care for inpatients and outpatients of all ages, from newborn to the elderly. Anesthesia care is provided by a team of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and Anesthesiologists. The anesthesia team administers general anesthesia, spinal, epidurals, intravenous sedation, PICC line insertions and regional blocks (ankle and axillary, etc.). Anesthesia services are provided in the surgery, obstetrical, endoscopy, emergency room and other departments throughout the hospital.
Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT)
A variety of surgeries are performed to assist patients with ear, nose and throat conditions. Procedures can include tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy and myringotomy tube insertion.
Laparoscopic technology (visualization of internal organs with a telescope inserted through a small abdominal incision) is routinely used for diagnosis and treatment of disease. Laparoscopic techniques may be used to remove the gallbladder, appendix, and for hernia repair. A wide range of procedures for cancer of the colon, liver, breast and other anatomical sites are performed in conjunction with the care provided to patients who come to the hospital. Sentinel node mapping technology can also be used to identify lymph nodes in breast and melanoma cancers.
As an aspect of regional organ and tissue banking, various organs and tissues can be harvested at ALMH.
A full range of services are available for patients needing gynecologic surgery. Laparoscopic procedures are performed both for diagnostic purposes and operative treatment. CO2 laser therapy is available for treatment if needed. Dilation and curettage, thermal balloon, endometrial ablation, operations for prolapse and incontinence, removal of benign tumors, and vaginal or abdominal hysterectomies are some of the common gynecologic surgeries performed. Malignancies involving the reproductive organs, including cancer of the cervix, uterus, and ovaries can also be treated.
We provide outpatient ophthalmic services for patients of varying ages. Occuloplastic procedures offer plastic reconstruction for patients of all ages. Cataract surgery is frequently performed on patients in the aging population. Visit our Ophthamology Services page to learn more.
Orthopedic surgical services are provided to patients who may have injuries, diseases/disorders, and degenerative conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system. ALMH patients benefit from advanced technologies and our highly skilled surgical team. We perform total joint replacements using a variety of instrumentation and implants based on individual patient need. Arthroscopes are used on less invasive procedures for diagnostic visualization and treatment of various joint conditions. Internal and external systems are used to stabilize many types of simple and complex fractures. Special procedures are performed for treatment of degenerative conditions, disc disease, or scoliosis and may use a variety of spinal fixation systems. Other services include treatment to address carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar decompression and removal of ganglion cysts.
Podiatric services treat ailments of the foot and ankle. Podiatrists within the community perform surgical procedures using the most current technology available to the bones of the feet and ankle. Podiatric surgical services help relieve pain associated with foot deformities and improve function of the foot and ankle. Our ALMH team also offers surgical treatment of ulcers and wounds associated with diabetic foot management.
ALMH provides a full range of urological services for patients seeking diagnostic, treatment or surgical intervention for conditions of the genitourinary system. Some urological procedures can be performed using various endoscopes to visualize the bladder, ureter and kidneys. Transvaginal taping techniques improve or restore urinary continence.
